ATLANTA – North Florida baseball is set for another opportunity at a run at the ASUN Championship as the Ospreys qualify for a slot in the 2022 ASUN Championship Tournament down in Fort Myers, Fla., this upcoming week.
North Florida qualified for tournament play in Pool B after beating out Central Arkansas for one of the remaining tournament slots based on RPI.
Official seeding assignments within both Pool A and Pool B remain as final RPIs are to be announced once results from May 21 games are included. UNF will either have the seventh or the eighth slot within Pool B. That being said, each group of teams in the respective pools are set.
UNF will either face Eastern Kentucky or Jacksonville in its first pool play game May 24. The winner of Pool B will advance to the semifinals, while the remaining three positions in the semifinals will come out of Pool A.
The Ospreys have made some late runs in the tournament in recent history. Last season UNF advanced to the winners bracket final, coming up just a win shy of the championship round before being eliminated by Liberty in the losers bracket final.
In 2018, UNF advanced to the final day before falling to top-seeded Stetson at home.
Stay tuned for more updates on the tournament, postseason awards and how to follow the games next week.
