Baseball Doubles Up Stetson in Series Opener, 8-4

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The North Florida bats homered three times and the arms got key punchouts when they needed them as UNF doubled up the Hatters, 8-4, in a humid and blustery series opener Friday, May 6 from Harmon Stadium.

The Ospreys (19-27, 9-13 ASUN) homered in the third, fourth and sixth inning while pounding out 13 hits, 10 of which came against Stetson starter Nick Durgin. Durgin surrendered a season-high tally in hits allowed as UNF derailed one of the best arms in the ASUN East Division as of late.

Lefty Peter Holden managed to strand Stetson (21-24, 6-16 ASUN) runners in key situations, sneaking out of danger to earn the win after 5.1 innings of four-run ball. Stephen Halstead bridged the mid-to-late innings with 2.2 scoreless, before righty Max McKinley struck out the side in the ninth for his second save of the season.

Abraham Sequera, Isaiah Byars and Grant Grodi all homered, tying the team single game best for roundtrippers this season.
