A local couple is still raising money for friends and people in Ukraine. They remind others that Ukrainians still need help even months into war.
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla — As the war in Ukraine drags on, the donations from locals are starting to drop off.
That’s according to Olga Martin and Arnis Zvirbulis. They both now live and own businesses in St. Augustine. Martin Zvirbulis is from Ukraine.
She set up a GoFundMe page in March. Olga Zvirbulis now says the donations have slowed down.
The couple is raising money to send to a friend in Ukraine who is leading charity efforts.
As the war drags on, the couple says Ukrainians still need more help.
The money is used for food, clothing, medical supplies, gas and baby supplies.
“We opened a bank account just for that, immediately. And the whole money will go to West Ukraine. We’re not keeping anything. 100% goes to help,” said Zvirbulis.
