Second Half Drought Derails Ospreys in Loss at FAU

The Short Story: North Florida mustered only 12 points in a rough second half scoring drought as in-state foe FAU claimed the 76-41 victory on Sunday afternoon in Boca Raton, Fla.


Jose Placer finished with 9 points to pace the Ospreys

Jarius Hicklen added 8 points while Jonathan Aybar chipped in 7 points off the bench for UNF

– Bryan Greenlee led a pair of double-digit FAU scorers with 14 points

– North Florida shot 30% from the floor for the game and made just 16% of their second half attempts including 0-for-7 from beyond the arc

– Owls held a 40-26 rebounding advantage and forced 20 Osprey miscues


– The first half featured a flurry of scoring runs from both squads

– FAU started the game on a 9-2 run and UNF responded with a 10-2 spurt minutes later to time the score at 14-14

– A 16-2 surge by the Owls pushed the lead to 15 (33-18) but North Florida again answered with an 11-0 run of their own featuring treys from Jarius Hicklen and Jose Placer to trim the deficit to 4 with under two minutes left in the opening half

– FAU scored the final six points of the stanza to own a 39-29 halftime lead

– Ospreys were extremely sluggish to start the second half going scoreless for the first six and a half minutes allowing the FAU lead to double

– After trading baskets for several possessions, the Owls closed the game on an 18-4 run to secure the final margin


– Ospreys remain winless on the road after the loss to the Owls
