HOOP SCOOP: Ospreys Face FIU in Road Trip Finale

MIAMI — After playing at #10 Kentucky on Friday night, North Florida makes a quick return to the hardwood when the Ospreys conclude their weekend road trip Sunday at Noon against FIU.


G – Jose Placer (9.4 PPG | 3.7 RPG | 3.1 APG)

G – Emmanuel Adedoyin (7.3 PPG | 1.0 RPG | 2.1 APG)

F – Carter Hendricksen (13.0 PPG | 4.1 RPG | 3.0 3PM/g)

F – Dorian James (6.0 PPG | 3.0 RPG | 1.0 BPG)

F – Jadyn Parker (7.4 PPG | 3.0 RPG | 1.0 BPG)



– Against Kentucky, Jose Placer pulled down a career best 10 rebounds while Jadyn Parker led the way with 10 points

– UNF posted a record setting performance in their home opener (Nov. 20) against Webber International as the Ospreys matched a program record with 21 three-pointers made (led by 8 for Emmanuel Adedoyin) and tied the program DI era mark with 30 assists

Carter Hendricksen tops the squad in scoring at 13.0 PPG (lone Osprey in double digits)

– Hendricksen also leads the team in rebounding at 4.1 RPG and is listed second in ASUN for 3PM/game with 3.0 treys | His 21 made three-pointers tops the conference and ranks 9th in the nation this season

– North Florida has seen 12 different players earn playing time this year | All 12 have scored and handed out an assist this year with 11 having grabbed a rebound | Ospreys have used the same starting five for every game thus far
– North Florida (AKA: “Birds of Trey”) have connected on 69 three-pointers this year (11th in NCAA) | Ospreys led the nation for 3PM in 2020 and 2016, ranked 14th in the nation last season with 10.0 per game (229 3PM)

– Of the 12 Ospreys to see playing time this year, 11 have attempted a trey with 8 connecting from long range

– The Texas Tech & Texas A&M games to tipoff the year marked the third time the Ospreys have started a season with back-to-back games on consecutive nights in different locations | 2017-18 opened with games at Michigan State & Michigan | 2010-11 began with games at Florida State & Pittsburgh

– North Florida amassed 5,854 miles of air travel in their season-opening trek and played games in three different time zones (Central, Mountain, Pacific)


– UNF finished 8-15 last season (6-6 ASUN)

– Ospreys were picked to finish 7th of 12 teams in the ASUN preseason coaches poll | UNF has finished in Top 4 of the ASUN in each of the past eight seasons

– Nine players return for the Ospreys this season including four starters

– Five of UNF’s top six scorers from last year return led by the duo of junior Carter Hendricksen (14.9 PPG) and redshirt-sophomore Jose Placer (14.5 PPG) 

– Hendricksen, a preseason All-ASUN selection, was named All-ASUN (1st team) last year while Placer garnered All-ASUN (2nd team)

Jonathan Aybar, who ranked second in the ASUN for blocked shots, earned ASUN All-Freshman accolades in 2020-21


– Hendricksen needs 38 points to become the 18th player in program history with 1,000 points and is 31 rebounds shy of 500 (Would be only 10th player in program history with both)

– With 193 wins at UNF, Driscoll is just 7 victories shy of 200 and needs just three victories to move into 3rd all-time in ASUN coaching history


– FIU lost their season opener at Georgia but have responded with five straight wins including a 65-56 victory over North Dakota on Wednesday at home

– The Panthers are 2-0 at Ocean Bank Convocation Center this year

– Three FIU players are averaging double figures led by Tevin Brewer at 15.8 PPG | Clevon Brown is the squad’s leader on the glass at 6.3 RPG

– Head coach Jeremy Ballard owns a 53-45 career record at FIU in his fourth season

SERIES NOTES: Sunday marks the 9th all-time meeting between UNF and FIU on the hardwood with the Panthers holding a 5-3 lead | North Florida posted an 80-77 win in the last meeting on Dec. 12, 2020 at UNF Arena | Home team has won every meeting in the series and there has been no repeat victor in each of the last six contests
