HOOP SCOOP: Season Opening Road Trip Concludes Wednesday at #2 UCLA

LOS ANGELES — North Florida men’s basketball wraps up its five-games in nine-days road trip to open the 2021-22 campaign on Wednesday night when the Ospreys visit historic Pauley Pavilion to meet #2 UCLA. The game is scheduled to tip at 10:30 p.m. (ET) and be carried on the Pac 12 Network family.  
 

PROBABLE STARTERS

G – Jose Placer (11.5 PPG | 3.3 RPG | 3.3 APG)

G – Emmanuel Adedoyin (4.0 PPG | 1.5 RPG | 1.3 APG)

F – Carter Hendricksen (15.0 PPG | 5.0 RPG | 3.0 3PM/g)

F – Dorian James (6.5 PPG | 3.8 RPG | 1.4 BPG)

F – Jonathan Aybar (3.3 PPG | 2.8 RPG | 0.5 APG)

 

HARDWOOD DRIBBLINGS

– Junior Carter Hendricksen leads the Ospreys in scoring at 15.0 PPG and is the lone player to have reached double figures in every game this season | Hendricksen is coming off his first double-double performance of the season after recording 14 points/10 rebounds at Arizona State on Monday night

Jose Placer is also averaging double figures (11.5 PPG) following a season high 25-point effort versus the Sun Devils | Placer had only scored 21 total points in the first three games of the season and had missed his first 11 three-point attempts before connecting on four on Monday

– UNF has seen 11 different players earn playing time this year | 10 have scored and pulled down rebounds this year

– Osprey reserves have outscored opponent’s reserves 61-59 this season | Bench has accounted for 40% of UNF’s scoring so far

– The Texas Tech & Texas A&M games to tipoff the year marked the third time the Ospreys have started a season with back-to-back games on consecutive nights in different locations | 2017-18 opened with games at Michigan State & Michigan | 2010-11 began with games at Florida State & Pittsburgh

– North Florida will amass 5,854 miles of air travel in their season-opening trek and play games in three different time zones (Central, Mountain, Pacific)

– Hendricksen needs 69 points to become the 18th player in program history with 1,000 points and is 40 rebounds shy of 500 (Would be only 10th player in program history with both)

– With 192 wins at UNF, Driscoll is just 8 victories shy of 200 and needs just four victories to move into 3rd all-time in ASUN coaching history

SCOUTING REPORT | UCLA

– UCLA is ranked No. 2 in the latest college basketball polls and is 3-0 on the season following their 100-79 win over Long Beach State on Monday night.

– Preseason National Player of the Year candidate, Johnny Juzang, leads the Bruins at 23.0 PPG and is also pulling down 5.3 RPG

– Four UCLA starters are averaging double digits

– Bruins are shooting 40.2% from behind the 3-point arc and are averaging 11.0 treys per game this season

– UCLA went 22-10 last season and advanced to the Final Four | Bruins have gone 14-1 at Pauley Pavilion (Since start of 2020-21 season)

– Head coach Mick Cronin is in his third season with UCLA holding a 44-22 record at Westwood | Cronin owns a 409-193 career record in his 19th season as a head coach
