ATLANTA – UNF baseball’s consummate student-athlete, Alex Kachler, was selected to the ASUN Conference Spring Winners for Life Team as announced by the conference Tuesday, June 30.
The team is comprised of one student-athlete from each school in the conference that displays the utmost excellence in the classroom and in competition.
The master’s student earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering and mathematics at Methodist University before embarking on his graduate degree in management at UNF.
Kachler was named a Senior CLASS Award First Team All-American after becoming the first baseball student-athlete in ASUN history to be named the conference player of the year and scholar-athlete of the year in the same season.
Twice he was honored as the ASUN Player of the Week, including the occasion in which he earned the award during his first week at the NCAA Division I level.
The Lithia, Fla., native made UNF history by hitting safely in eight consecutive contests between April 25 and 28. During those two games he tied the UNF single game record for hits by going 5-for-5 in a win against Jacksonville.
The right-handed hitter belted three home runs during a road series at No. 21 Georgia, while also going 7-for-10 in a season-opening series at No. 21 Florida State.
